I
1
2 Erosion Control Blankets are used as an erosion prevention device and to enhance the
I
3 establishment of vegetation.
4
5 The second paragraph is revised to read:
I 6
7 When used to enhance the establishment of seeded areas, seeding and fertilizing shall be
8 done prior to blanket installation.
9
I10 8-01.3(4) Placing Compost Blanket
11 This section is revised to read:
12
I13 Compost blankets are used for erosion control. Compost blanket shall be only be placed on
14 ground surfaces that are steeper than 3-foot horizontal and 1-foot vertical though steeper
15 slopes shall be broken by wattles or compost socks placed according to the Standard
I 16 Plans. Compost shall be placed to a depth of 3 inches over bare soil. An organic tackifier
17 shall be placed over the entire composted area when dry or windy conditions are present or
18 expected. The tackifier shall be applied immediately after the application of compost to
I19 prevent compost from leaving the composted area.
20
21 Medium compost shall be used for the compost blanket. Compost may serve the purpose
22 of soil amendment as specified in Section 8-02.3(6).
I 23
24 8-01.3(5) Plastic Covering
25 The first paragraph is revised to read:
I 26
27 Erosion Control — Plastic coverings used to temporarily cover stockpiled materials, slopes
28 or bare soils shall be installed and maintained in a way that prevents water from intruding
I
29
30 under the plastic and prevents the plastic cover from being damaged by wind. Plastic
coverings shall be placed with at least a 12-inch overlap of all seams and be a minimum of
31 6 mils thick. Use soil stabilization and energy dissipation BMPs to minimize the erosive
32 energy flows coming off sloped areas of plastic (e.g., toe of slope). When feasible, prevent
I 33 the clean runoff from plastic from hitting bare soil. Direct flows from plastic to stabilized
34 outlet areas.
35
I 36 8-01.3(7) Stabilized Construction Entrance
37 The first paragraph is revised to read:
38
I 39 Temporary stabilized construction entrance shall be constructed in accordance with the
40 Standard Plans, prior to construction vehicles entering the roadway from locations that
41 generate sediment track out on the roadway. Material used for stabilized construction
42 entrance shall be free of extraneous materials that may cause or contribute to track out.
43
44 8-01.3(8) Street Cleaning
45 This section is revised to read:
I 46
47 Self-propelled pickup street sweepers shall be used to remove and collect dirt and other
48 debris from the Roadway.
