I <br /> I 1 unworkable at any time during the first-year plant establishment, the Contractor <br /> 2 shall submit a revised plan prior to proceeding with further Work. The Plant <br /> 3 Establishment Plan shall include: <br /> 4 <br /> I 5 1. Proposed scheduling of joint inspection meetings. activities, materials, <br /> 6 equipment to be utilized for the first-year plant establishment. <br /> 7 <br /> I 8 2. Proposed adaptive management activities to ensure successful <br /> 9 establishment of seeded, sodded, and planted areas. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 3. A contact person. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 4. Management of the irrigation system, when applicable. <br /> 14 <br /> I 15 8-02.3(3) Weed and Pest Control <br /> 16 The Contractor shall control weed and pest species within the project limits using <br /> 17 integrated pest management principles consisting of mechanical, biological, and <br /> I 18 chemical controls that are outlined in the Weed and Pest Control Plan or as <br /> 19 designated by the Engineer. Controlling weeds consists of killing and removing weeds <br /> 20 by chemical, mechanical, and hand methods. <br /> I 21 <br /> 22 8-02.3(3)A Chemical Pesticides <br /> 23 Chemical pesticides include, but are not restricted to, any substance or mixture <br /> 24 of substances intended for preventing, destroying, repelling or mitigating any <br /> I 25 pest, including but not limited to, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, adjuvants, <br /> 26 and additives. including plant regulators, defoliants and desiccants. The <br /> 27 Contractor shall apply chemical pesticides in accordance with the label <br /> I 28 recommendations, the Washington State Department of Ecology, local sensitive <br /> 29 area ordinances, and Washington State Department of Agriculture laws and <br /> 30 regulations. Only those pesticides listed in the table Herbicides Approved for Use <br /> I 31 on WSDOT Rights of Way and accepted as part of the Weed and Pest Control <br /> 32 Plan or by written authorization from the Engineer may be used <br /> 33 (www.wsdot.wa.qov/maintenance/roadside/herbicide use.htm). <br /> 34 <br /> I 35 The applicator shall be licensed by the State of Washington as a Commercial <br /> 36 Applicator or Commercial Operator, with additional endorsements as required by <br /> 37 the Special Provisions or the proposed weed control plan.All chemical pesticides <br /> I 38 shall be delivered to the job site in the original containers, or if pre-mixed off-site, <br /> 39 a certification of the components and formulation from the supplier is required. <br /> 40 The licensed applicator or operator shall complete WSDOT Form 540-509, <br /> I 41 Commercial Pesticide Application Record, each day the pesticide is applied and <br /> 42 furnish a copy to the Engineer by the following business day. <br /> 43 <br /> 44 The Contractor shall ensure confinement of the chemicals within the designated <br /> 45 areas. The use of spray chemical pesticides shall require the use of anti-drift and <br /> 46 activating agents and a spray pattern indicator unless otherwise allowed by the <br /> 47 Engineer. <br /> I 48 <br /> 4Q The Contractor shall assume all responsibility for rendering any area <br /> 50 unsatisfactory for planting by reason of chemical application.
