I <br /> 1 the satisfaction of the Engineer or the property owner at no additional cost to the <br /> 2 Contracting Agency. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 8-02.3(3)B Planting and Lawn Area Weed Control <br /> 5 Planting and lawn area weed control consists of controlling weeds and pests in <br /> 6 planted and lawn areas shown in the Plans.This Work is included in the bid items <br /> 7 for planting and lawn installation. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 All planting and lawn areas shall be prepared so that they are weed and debris <br /> 10 free at the time of planting and until completion of the project. The planting areas <br /> 11 shall include the entire ground surface, regardless of cover, areas around plants, <br /> 12 and those areas shown in the Plans. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Within planting or lawn areas, all species that are not shown in the Plans are <br /> 15 unwanted and shall be controlled unless specifically allowed by the Engineer to <br /> 16 remain. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 Grass growing within the mulch ring of a plant, including grass applied in <br /> 19 accordance with Sections 8-01.3(2)A1, 8-02.3(9) or 8-02.3(10), shall be <br /> 20 considered a weed and shall be controlled on the project in accordance with the <br /> 21 weed and pest control plan. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 All applications of post-emergent herbicides shall be made while green and <br /> 24 growing tissue is present. Residual herbicides shall not be used where <br /> 25 rhizomatous species or perennial species are indicated. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Should unwanted vegetation reach the flowering and seed stage in violation of <br /> 28 these Specifications, the Contractor shall physically remove and bag the seed <br /> 29 heads prior to seed dispersion. All physically removed vegetation and seed <br /> 30 heads shall be disposed of off-site at no cost to the Contracting Agency. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 8-02.3(3)C Project Area Weed and Pest Control <br /> 33 The Contractor shall control weeds not otherwise covered in accordance with <br /> 34 Section 8-02.3(3)B, in all areas within the project limits, including erosion control <br /> 35 seeding areas and vegetation preservation areas, as designated by the <br /> 36 Engineer. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 When the Bid Item "Project Area Weed and Pest Control" is included in the <br /> 39 Contract, the Contractor shall also control all weeds specified as noxious by the <br /> 40 Washington State Department of Agriculture, the local Weed District, or the <br /> 41 County Noxious Weed Control Board outside of planting areas within the project <br /> 42 limits. <br /> 43 <br /> 44 8-02.3(4) Topsoil <br /> 45 Topsoil shall not be worked or placed when the ground or topsoil is frozen, or <br /> 46 excessively wet. <br /> 47 <br /> 48 The Contractor shall protect topsoil stockpiled for project use to prevent erosion and <br /> 49 weed growth.
