I
1 transverse 10-foot straightedge requirements, corrective work and disincentive
2 adjustments.
3
4 Operate the inertial profiler in accordance with AASHTO R 57. Collect two longitudinal
I
5 traces, one in each wheel path. Collect profile data after completion of all concrete paving
6 on the project in a continuous pass including areas excluded from pay adjustments.
7 Provide notice to the Engineer a minimum of seven calendar days prior to testing.
I 8
9 Within 30 calendar days after the Contractor's testing, the Engineer may perform
10 verification testing. If the verification testing shows a difference in MRI greater than the
Ii 1
12 percentages shown in Table 2 of AASHTO R 54 the following resolution process will be
followed:
13
14 1. The profiles, equipment and procedures will be evaluated to determine the cause
I 15 of the difference.
16
17 2. if the cause of the discrepancy cannot be resolved the pavement shall be
I
18
19 retested with both profilers at a mutually agreed time. The two profilers will test
the section within 30 minutes of each other. If the retest shows a difference in
20 MRI equal or greater than the percentages shown in Table 2 of AASHTO R 54
I 21 the Engineer's test results will be used to establish pay adjustments.
22
23 Surface smoothness of travel lanes not subject to MRI testing will be measured with a 10-
24 foot straightedge no later than 5:00 p.m. of the day following the placing of the concrete.
' 25 The completed surface of the wearing course shall not vary more than 1/8 inch from the
26 lower edge of a 10-foot straightedge placed on the surface parallel to the centerline.
27
I 28 Smoothness perpendicular to the centerline will be measured with a 10-foot straightedge
29 across all lanes with the same cross slope, including shoulders when composed of cement
30 concrete pavement. The overlapping 10-foot straightedge measurement shall be
131
32 discontinued at a point 6 inches from the most extreme outside edge of the finished
cement concrete pavement. The completed surface of the wearing course shall not vary
33 more than 1/4 inch from the lower edge of a 10-foot straightedge placed on the surface
34 perpendicular to the centerline. Any deviations in excess of the above tolerances shall be
I
35 corrected.
36
37 The Contractor shall evaluate profiles for acceptance, incentive payments, disincentive
I
38
39 payments, or corrective action using the current version of ProVAL and provide the results
including the profile data in unfiltered electronic Engineering Research Division (ERD) file
40 format to the Engineer within 2 calendar days of completing testing each section of
I
41
42 pavement. If the profile data files are created using an export option in the manufacturer's
software where filter settings can be specified, use the filter settings that were used to
43 create data files for certification. Analyze the entire profile. Exclude any areas specifically
44 identified in the Contract. Exclude from the analysis the first 100 feet after the start of the
I
45 paving operations and last 100 feet prior to the end of the paving operation, the first 100
46 feet on either side of bridge Structures and bridge approach slab. Report the MRI results
47 in inches per mile for each 52.8 foot section and horizontal distance measurements in
I
48
49 project stationing to the nearest foot. Include pay adjustments in the results. The Engineer
will verify the analysis.
50
I51 Corrective work for pavement smoothness may be taken by the Contractor prior to MRI
52 testing. After completion of the MRI testing the Contractor shall measure the smoothness
ICITY OF EVERETT AMENDMENTS
PACIFIC AVENUE TO INTERURBAN TRAIL BICYCLE SAFETY PROJECT 8/12/2019
I
STATE FUND#HLP PB17(014); COE#PW3688 Page AM-25
