• • <br /> The 2x6#2 DF roof framing controls the load capacity of the roof,having sufficient capacity for the <br /> itemized Dead Loads and Snow Load but leaving only a 4.8 psf allowance for miscellaneous loads <br /> such as light fixtures and fire sprinklers. The existing insulation and vapor barrier on the underside <br /> of the roof will have to be removed. <br /> For staging roofing materials or debris during the roofing project,I recommend that you limit the <br /> load on the roof to 30 psf. This load is based on using the snow load and the 4.8 psf excess capacity <br /> in the 2x6 roof framing. <br /> I recommend that the existing joist hangers,used to support the 2x6 roof framing,be connected to <br /> the nailers on the top of the Steel Joists. I believe this can be accomplished by driving powder <br /> actuated fastener such as a 1 '/2"long,Hilti XU-MX through the OSB at the location of the joist <br /> hanger flanges. This work should be accomplished prior to placing any large loads on the roof, as <br /> you know several joists hangers failed and were found to have never been connected to the 3x nailer <br /> on top of the Steel Joists. <br /> Regarding your intention to increase the number of through wall scupper openings. It is acceptable <br /> to core drill 4"diameter holes through the precast wall panel parapets to act as overflow scuppers. I <br /> recommend that each such new hole should be located no closer than 18"from an existing scupper <br /> penetration nor less than 12"of the edge of a panel. Since the penetrations will be above the roof <br /> diaphragm and the roof framing attachments,there will be very little demand on wall reinforcing in <br /> the parapets.
