• <br /> The officers, assistants and employees in the Department of Safety <br /> shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Safety. <br /> All persons paid on an hourly basis as hereinafter or herein set <br /> forth shall be considered and be day laborers as defined by the City Charter <br /> governing Civil Service (1.16.270) . <br /> Section 28: The City Commissioners of the City of Everett hereby <br /> find that greater performance and efficiency can be secured from the city <br /> employees who have adequate medical care furnished on a uniform basis and <br /> that it is for the best interest of the City of Everett to furnish medical <br /> care as a part of the consideration of employment. (1.16.280) . <br /> Section 29: The City Commissioners of the City of Everett shall <br /> provide as part of the compensation to be paid all city employees of the <br /> City of Everett, except policemen, firemen and temporary employees, a prepaid <br /> medical plan at a costof not to exceed $6.00 per month per employee. <br /> Section 30: There is hereby established a pay range code for non- <br /> uniform employees of the City of Everett and all references to said code in <br /> this ordinance shall be by number preceded by the letter R . This code <br /> shall not apply to all persons who are not allocated a code range number. <br /> The pay range code as hereinafter set forth, establishes the salary <br /> range based on years of service of each employee, except as hereinafter <br /> modified and limited. Years of service shall be credited to all employees <br /> who were employed by the City of Everett on and prior to the date of the <br /> adoption of this Ordinance. <br /> In this Ordinance, the asterisk is found after the monthly salary <br /> for certain positions. This applies to incumbents whose salaries are in ex- <br /> cess of the pay range scale and such salary shall be paid to them as fixed <br /> by this Ordinance even though it exceeds the pay range code.
