The existing street lighting system along the project frontage consists of three wood poles with luminaires,
powered with overhead triplex wiring. Upgreding of such systems which do not meet our current design standards
should have been a requirement of the Wal-Mart development. City standards call for uderground conduit fed design
with junction boxes and aluminum davit arm style poles on concrete foundations.
I have attached a concept sketch of the luminaires in question as well as a typical conduit route which would power the
replacement luminaires. The luminaires cai: be connected to the lighting circuit at the existing traffic signal.
The lighting fixtures would be 250W equivalent LED fixtures. The underground system with aluminum poles will certainly
enhance the street appeal of the Wal-Mart project and I ask you to bring the situation up to the owner.
Since the pavement and sidewalk ramps at the driveway throat are under construction this would be a good time to at
least install the street crossing conduit there.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I can furnish you any needed lighting system standard plans or specs.
Sincerely,
Timothy Miller, PE
City Traffic Engineer
 1 ' ~ PUBL/C WO?ICS'
., .
R(Sy[!'
Public Works - Engineering
City of Everett
3200 Cedar Street
Everett, WA 98201
425-257-8977
