Section 18: Service Materials and Installation Standards. <br /> a. Type "K" copper tubing only shall be the service pipe material <br /> used between the main and the service cock or meter for three-fourths inch <br /> (3/4") and one inch (1") service connections. Galvanized malleable iron, <br /> galvanized wrought iron or steel, lined and coated steel or lined cast iron <br /> pipe only shall be used for service pipe material between the main and the <br /> meter for services larger than one inch (1") in diameter. The service pipe <br /> material on the customer's side of the service cock or meter may be any <br /> material permitted in the Plumbing Code of the City of Everett except that <br /> such ma terial shall not be plastic pipe. <br /> b. The diameter of any tap made to any water main and the diameter <br /> of the service pipe between such main and the service cock or meter shall <br /> be subject to the approval of the Superintendent except that normally no tap <br /> nor service pipe shall be less than three-fourths inch (3/4") in diameter. <br /> c. All service connection piping located on the customer's premises <br /> or private property other than public streets, utility easements and rights of <br /> way shall be installed not less than twenty-four inches (24") below the surface <br /> of the ground and not less than thirty inches (30") below the surface on public <br /> streets, utility easements and rights of way. No service piping between the <br /> building and the location of the service cock or meter shall be buried or <br /> covered until it has been inspected and accepted by the Water Department or <br /> the Plumbing Inspector. <br /> Section 19: Stop and Waste Valves. Consumers shall, at their own <br /> expense, install and maintain all pipes, connections and fixtures from the <br /> service cock or meter placed by the Water Department. All pipes must be <br /> provided with stop and waste valves, protected from freezing and accessible <br /> at all times to the consumer, in such a manner that said pipes may be drained <br /> to prevent freezing and the water may be shut off for repairs to service pipes, <br /> - 11- <br />
