• <br /> All new distribution system mains shall be suitably lined cast iron <br /> pipe, said pipe conforming to the appropriate American Water Works <br /> Association standard for cast iron pipe as determined by the Superintendent. <br /> No new line in the distribution system shall be smaller than four <br /> inches (4") in diameter. The size and location of all new lines shall be <br /> determined by the Superintendent. <br /> The term "lateral line" or "lateral" is used herein to designate a <br /> distribution system pipeline which includes fire hydrants and service connec- <br /> tions to adjacent property. The standard minimum size of such lateral lines <br /> shall be six inches (6") in diameter. The use of four inch (4") laterals shall <br /> be confined to a minimum and used only in such special circumstances where <br /> deemed warranted by the Superintendent, such as short dead end lines or <br /> as part of a dual system. <br /> All new lateral lines shall be paid for by local improvement district <br /> assessments or cash payments subject to credits as hereinafter set forth. <br /> The property benefited by installation of such laterals shall pay all costs up <br /> to and including six inch(6") diameter laterals together with all appurtenances <br /> such as valves, fittings and fire hydrants required for a complete installation. <br /> All system improvement lines shall be paid for from Water System <br /> funds as hereinafter set forth. The term "system improvement line" as <br /> used herein shall designate those feeder lines constructed for the purpose of <br /> improving the distribution system as a whole or in part, provided however, <br /> that where lines of more than six inches (6") in diameter used for feeders <br /> as well as laterals are installed, the construction cost thereof shall be shared <br /> as follows: <br /> To the property benefited there shall be charged an amount equal to <br /> the cost of installing a six inch (6") lateral line including fire hydrants and <br /> appurtenances; the Water System shall bear all costs in excess thereof. <br /> -4- <br />
