EXCERPT <br />CITY OF EVERETT <br />BOARD OF PARK COMMISSIONERS MEETING <br />Tuesday, December 11, 2012 <br />6:00 P.M. <br />Spruce Hall <br />The City of Everett Board of Park Commissioners held a regularly scheduled meeting <br />Tuesday December 11, 2012, 6pm in Spruce Hall at Forest Park. <br />Commissioners Present: Tina Hokanson, Art Thomson, Michael Swanson, Dianne Riter <br />and Sarah Olson. <br />Excused: Erich Franz and Patrick Franssen. <br />Council liaison Brenda Stonecipher was excused <br />Staff Present: PaulKaftanski, Lori Cummings, John Petersen, Tracy Quast and Jan <br />Meston/Planning Department. <br />Citizens Present: Gary Allen, Doug Ramstad/Historical Commission Member <br />RECOMMENDATION ITEM <br />Downtown Plaza Name - Paul introduced Jan Meston from the Planning Department <br />who has been working closely with the Historical Commission on the naming of the <br />plaza. Paul referenced the Historical Commission meeting minutes from 11/27/12 and <br />other related information that was provided to the board in the agenda packet prior to <br />tonight's meeting. Dave Ramstad is in attendance representing the Historical <br />Commission. <br />Jan acknowledged the thoroughness of the information provided in the packet. The <br />nomination of "City Plaza" was accepted by the Mayor and the Historical Commission <br />held a public meeting on November 27, 2012. After reviewing the Historical <br />Commission minutes, the Park Board will have an opportunity to provide a <br />recommendation to be brought forth to the Historical Commission for the naming of the <br />plaza. The Historical Commission will make a recommendation to the City Council who <br />will make the final decision for the naming of the Plaza. Michael asked if there will be a <br />second Historical Commission meeting in January. Jan acknowledged there will be a <br />second meeting in January which the public will again have an opportunity to weigh in <br />on the naming of the plaza. Tina questioned if they will be advised of other naming <br />options. Jan stated "yes". Tina asked about the necessity of the Historical <br />Commission meeting to take other recommendations. Jan replied the meeting's main <br />focus is to provide a final recommendation to City Council. Paul asked if there were <br />any questions of Jan at this time. No questions. <br />1 1 Page <br />
