2 <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A ;".esolution Establishing the Name of "Theatre Plaza" for the <br />Public Plaza located south of the Everett Performing Arts Center <br />Pursuant to Resolution No. 6537 <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds the following: <br />1. The City of Everett adopted Resolution No. 6537 amending the process used to name <br />City public facilities; <br />2. Resolution No. 6537 requires review of proposed names or name changes by the Everett <br />Historical Commission; <br />3. The City has recently completed construction of a public plaza on Wetmore Avenue in <br />downtown, located between the Everett Performing Arts Center and the Children's <br />Theater; <br />4. The Everett Board of Park Commissioners, pursuant to Resolution No. 6537, has <br />recommended two names for consideration by the Historical Commission for the plaza; <br />5. The Historical Commission held a public hearing on November 27, 2012, which was <br />continued to January 23, 2013, to take public testimony and consider a name for the plaza <br />in accordance with the procedural requirements of Resolution No. 6537; <br />6. The Historical Commission took public testimony and considered several possible names <br />for the plaza; <br />7. The Historical Commission has recommended that the City Council name the plaza <br />"Theatre Plaza" or "Wetmore Theatre Plaza." <br />8. The Everett City Council held a public hearing on March 13, 2013 to consider the <br />recommendation of the Historical Commission and take public testimony concerning the <br />naming of the plaza. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Everett City Council does hereby establish <br />the name "Theatre Plaza." <br />Councilmember Introducing Resolution Date <br />City Council President <br />• <br />2 <br />
