 -
Proposed Modernimriaand Additiora ro Subsurface Erploration, Geologic Hazards,
Eisenhower Middle Schoo! and Geotechnical Engineering Report
Everett, Warhin¢mn Project and Site Conditians
2.0 PROJECT AND SITE DESCRIPTION
It is our understanding that the existing school buildings will be modernized and additions will
be added on to existing structures. Additions include construction o:classrooms and library in
the central courtyard area northwest of the existing gymnasium in th general viciniry of the
existing kitchen building. The existing drive/parking areas are to be modified allowing
construction of tennis courts within the northwest portion of the site. New drive/parking areas
will be added along the east side of [he school buildings, west of the track and field. Portable
classrooms and an outdoor basketball court will be added within the southwestern portion of
the site. We assume :hat the floor elevations of the proposed additions will be similar to that
of the existing grades. Conventional concrete and masonry construction methods are assumed,
with light to moderate foundation loads. For the purposes of this report, column loads on the
order of 150 kips and wall loads of 3 to 5 kips per lineal foot are assumed.
The project site is that of the existing Eisenhower Middle School which is located a: 10200 25'"
Avenue SL, Evetett, Washingron. Gated access to the site is locaied midway along the
northern property line from the south terminus of 25'" Avenue SE. The existing asphalt ,
concrete parking/drive areas are located within the northern portion of the site, west of 25'" i
Avenue SE. The access drive slopes up to the west from 25'" Avenue SE to the parking area at
an elevation approximately 10 feet higher than the entry. The e;isting schoo( consists of three I
main buildings on a relatively level pad at approximately the same elevation as the adjacent
parking area. The lunch/classroom building is situated within the western portion of the
building area immediately south of the parking/drive area. The gymnasium is located along
the southern edee of the parking/drive area, east of the lunch/classroom building. The
administratio. /classroom building wi[h a circular faotprint is located at the southern end of the
breezeway/walkway connecting the lunch/classroom and gymnasium buildings (refer to Figure
2 for existing buildin, layout). An asphalt play area is located west of the
administration/dassroom building. Two classroom-size structures are present within the
asphalt play area, adjacent to the southwest corner of the lunchlclassroom building. Four
classroom-sized buildings and adjacent asphalt concrete surfacing are east of the gymnasium at
an elevation approximately 10 feet lower than the main school pad.
A football field, track, baseball and softball field are locared within the easrern portion of the
site, east of the entry from 25" Avente SE. The westerfy football field/track is at an elevation
approximately ZO feet lower than the main schol pad ar,d consists of a grass field surrounded
by an oval cinder track. A slope, approximately t0 feet in vertical height, ascends from the
western edge of the track at a gradient of approximately 3.SH:1" (Horizontal:Vertical); a
gendy ascending, grass-covered slope extends from the top of the 3.SH:1V slope toward the
school pad.
The grass-covered baseball and softball tiefds are located east of the football tield at an
elevation approximately 5 feet lower than the track. A water manaeement pond is located
Jnnunn• 3, ZOOd .ISSOC/.ITED EaR7N SGENCES, LVC.
.tT fd-A"£OJ7J3dJ-P.nrrt+CJi33iKECP-R7A' P3QC Z O
