(_

Praposed Moderni£ation mid.dditions to Subsurface Explaratinn, Geologic Hazards,
Eisenhower Middle Schoo! and Geotechnica!Engineering Repon
Everett, Washinqton Project and Site Candrtions
south of the southern baseball field. The base of the pond is at an elevation approximately 10
feet lower than the adjacent baseball field.
A 2.:iH:1V slope descends from the eastern edge of the baseball fields to a wetland within the
eastern portion of the site. The wetland is at an elevation approximately 10 to 12 feet lower
than the baseball fields.
Based on topographic information provided to us, maximum elevation difference from east to
west across the site is approxicnately 35 to 40 fee:. Maximum elevation difference from east to
west across the building and parking/drive areas to be included in the :,odernization and
additions discussed herein is approximately 15 feet.
Residential developments censisting of one- and tw-story, wood-frame, single-family
resiuences surround the school site on rl sides.
3.0 SUBSURFACE EXPLORATION
Our field study included drilling 10 exploration borings and performing a geologic hazard
reconnaissance to gain surface and subsurface information about the site. The various rypes of
sediments, as well as the depths where characteristics of the sediments changed, are indicated
on the exploration logs presented in the Appendix. The depths indicsted on the logs where
conditions changed may represent gradational variations between sediment types in the field.
If changes occurred between sample intervals in our exploration borings, they were
inrerpreted. Our explc, rations were approximarely located in the field by measuring from
known site features shown on the plan provided to us. Approximate exploration locations are
shown on the attached Site and Exploration Plan, Figure 2.
The conclusions and recommendations presented in this report are based on the 10 exploration
borings completed for this study. The location and depth of the explorations were completed
witliin site and budget constrain[s. Because of the nature of exploratory work below ground,
extrapolation of subsurface conditions betveen field exp;orations is necessary. It should be
noted that differing subsurface conditions may sometimes be present due to the random nature
of deposition and de alteration of topography hy past grading and/or filling. TI e nature and
extent of any variations between the field explorations may not become fully evideut u.:il
construction. If variations are observed at that [ime, it may be necessary to re-evaluate specific
recommendations in this report and make appropriate chanees.
3.1 Exploration Borinas
The exploration borines were completed by advancing a hollow-stem auger with a track-
mounted drill rie. Durinc. the drillin;; process, samples were obtained at geerally 2.5- or 5-
lairturn ?3, 3Lld ASSOCUlED F.IRTH SGENCES, INC. (
,lfTld-8EOJ7J3dJ-ProrrtsULOJiJYiKf'.tvY-1qA' P3gC 3 \\p )
\/
