GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING STUDY
Mr. Arthur Skotdal
, c/o Dykeman Architects E-6225
July 27, 1993 Page 3
_. Groundwater
No groundwater seepage was observed while drilling. Therefore, we do not anticipate
_ groundwater levels wiil have a significant sffect on the proposed excavation. Dewatering
should not be necessary before beginning the excavation. However, permanent post-
construction groundwater control measures should be provided by providing drainage
 behind all foundation watis.
In addition, it should be noted that groundwater conditions are not static; thus, one may
- expect fluctuations in the level and flow depending on the season, amount of rainfall,
surface water runoff, and other factors. Generally, the water level and flow rate is
highest in the wetter winter months (typically October through May).
-
 Laboratorv Testina
"i laboratory tests were conducted on several representative soil samples to verify or modify
the field soii classification of the units encountered and to evaluate the general physical
properties and engineering characteristics of the soii encountered. Field visual
classifications of the encountered soiis were supplemented by grain size analyses on
representative samples. Moisture content tests were performed on all samples. The
results of laboratory tests performed on specific samples are provided either at the
I appropriate sample depth on the individual borinfl logs or on a separate data sheet
contained in Appeniix B. It is important to note that these test results may not accurately
represent the overall in-situ soil conditions. Our geotechnical recommendations are based
on our interpretation of these test results and their use in guiding our engineering
judgement. ECI cannot be responsible for the interpretation of these data by others.
IIn accordance with our Standard Fee Schedule and General Conditions, the soil samples
for this project will be discarded after a period of fifteen days following completion of this
Ireport unless we are otherwise directed in writing.

I
j i
( Eorth Consultants, Inc.
r
