CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> Bid items of Work completed pursuant to the Contract Documents will be measured as <br /> described in Division B - Bid Item Descriptions of these Special Provisions and Section <br /> 1-09 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT of the Standard Specifications. <br /> 2-09.5 Payment <br /> Delete all paragraphs in 2-09.5 and substitute the following: <br /> Payment for bid items of Work completed pursuant to the Contract Documents will be <br /> ' as described in Division B - Bid Item Descriptions of these Special Provisions and <br /> Section 1-09 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT of the Standard Specifications. <br /> When there is no bid item for "Structure Excavation" in the Proposal, all Work in this <br /> ' section shall be included with the respective Bid Items of the Contract with no direct <br /> compensation made. <br /> 2-10 VACANT <br /> Delete 2-10 and substitute the following: <br /> 2-10 SPECIAL SOIL EXCAVATION AND BACKFILL REQUIREMENTS <br /> 2-10.1 Description <br /> Some of the soils in this area have a greater than background arsenic concentration.A portion <br /> ' of the project area is located within the "Community Protection Measures Boundary" as <br /> defined in the: <br /> "Integrated Final Cleanup Action Plan and Final Environmental Impact Statement for the <br /> Upland Area" (Washington State Department of Ecology, 1999). <br /> A map of this area is included in Appendix F. <br /> The work described in this section applies to work within the Community Protection Measures <br /> Boundary and consists of excavating potential heavy metals-contaminated soils, stockpiling <br /> or storing and backfilling in the trench after pipe and structure installation. The work includes, <br /> but is not necessarily limited to, the following: <br /> ' 1. Preparation of submittals as required <br /> 2. Soil excavation and backfill <br /> 3. Health and Safety Plan <br /> ' 4. Dust Control <br /> 5. Street Sweeping <br /> 6. Soil Management Plan <br /> 7. All temporary stockpiling and containment (hauling, storage, rolloff boxes, liners, <br /> covers, berms, etc.) <br /> 8. Temporary sedimentation and erosion control measures <br /> ' 9. Backfilling and compaction <br /> Site information: Surface conditions have been explored by the Department of Ecology and <br /> the City in a limited manner to determine environmental properties of existing soils. Results <br /> ' of soil sampling and analysis indicate that soils contain arsenic and lead. <br /> Environmental data for the site are referenced in Section 2-10 for information only. The <br /> Contractor shall satisfy himself as to the quality and condition of the materials that are <br /> ' required to be removed and placed during this work.
