CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> ' Proceed continuously once Work is started on a connection without interruption <br /> and as rapidly as possible until completed. City will not permit shutoff of mains <br /> overnight, over weekends, or on holidays. <br /> Notify COE water customers affected by water shut off if the connection to the <br /> existing system involves turning off the water. Provide a minimum of 48-hours <br /> prior notice. The Engineer will advise which property owners to notify. <br /> Do NOT operate valves on the existing system. Only City Utilities Department <br /> personnel may operate water system valves. <br /> Refer to 7-12.3 of these Special Provisions for tapping assembly connections, <br /> if any. <br /> 7-09.3(21) Thrust Blocking <br /> ' Revise the first sentence of the first paragraph to read as follows: <br /> Place concrete thrust blocking, as noted on the Plans and described in these <br /> Special Provisions, at bends where new ductile iron pipe connects to existing pipe. <br /> ' Supplement 7-09.3(21) by adding the following: <br /> Provide mechanical joint restraining devices in place of concrete blocking on all <br /> fittings connecting new ductile iron pipe to new ductile iron pipe. <br /> Where shown on the Plans or as allowed by the Engineer, provide concrete thrust <br /> blocking at bends, tees, plugs and crosses, including City installed fittings. Provide <br /> cast-in-place concrete thrust blocking having a minimum of 1/4-square foot bearing <br /> against the fitting and two square feet bearing against undisturbed soil and be clear <br /> of joints so as to permit taking up or dismantling joint. Provide a minimum <br /> measurement of 12-inches between the pipe and the undisturbed bank for all <br /> poured in place concrete thrust blocking. Form concrete blocking and pour using <br /> commercial concrete. Place blocking between solid ground and the fitting to be <br /> anchored with the area bearing on the pipe and on the ground in each instance <br /> ' being as Shown or directed by the Engineer. Place the blocking, unless otherwise <br /> shown or directed, so that the pipe and fitting joints, including nuts and bolts, can <br /> be accessible for repair. <br /> 7-09.3(23) Hydrostatic Pressure Test <br /> Supplement 7-09.3(23) by adding the following: <br /> Provide City approved double-check assembly for the purpose of testing and <br /> ' flushing. City will not charge for the water used in this operation. <br /> Successfully complete hydrostatic pressure test prior to starting disinfecting new <br /> watermains. <br /> 7-09.3(23)A Testing Extensions from Existing Mains <br /> Delete 7-09.3(23)A. <br /> 7-09.3(24) Disinfection of Watermains <br /> Delete 7-09.3(24), including subsections, and substitute the following: <br /> 7-09.3(24) Flushing and Disinfection of Watermains <br /> Flush, disinfect with a chlorine solution and obtain passing coliform bacteria test reports <br /> before placing new watermains or extensions to existing mains in service. Submit <br /> flushing and disinfection procedures in accordance with this section. Provide submittal <br /> containing, at a minimum: <br /> • Location of taps and other appurtenances used for chlorination and flushing <br /> purposes, <br /> • Location of the sample collection taps, <br /> Watermain Replacement"U" Division 7-STORM, SEWER,WATER October 1, 2019 <br /> WO No.-UP3698 SP-178 <br />
