ARTICLE 18 -WORK IN HIGHER CLASSIFICATION <br /> 18.1 Temporary assignment. <br /> 18.1.1 Except as provided in 18.1.3, any member of the Department who is temporarily assigned <br /> by the Chief of Police or a designated departmental officer to accept the full duty and <br /> responsibility of a rank higher than his/her current regular classification shall be paid at <br /> the rate of the higher rank in his/her temporary assignment until returned to work in <br /> his/her regular classification. <br /> 18.1.2 Master Police Officers may act in supervisory positions if such assignment can be made <br /> without causing the number of patrol officers in the field to fall below minimum crew <br /> levels. A Master Police Officer may act in such capacity for three (3) consecutive work <br /> days with no extra compensation. <br /> 18.1.3 A Sergeant who is temporarily assigned to perform work outside the bargaining unit will <br /> receive 10% of the employee's base salary as out of class pay. The Sergeant will continue <br /> to receive all other wages, benefits, and rights set forth in this collective bargaining <br /> agreement. <br /> 26 <br />
