4 <br /> shall be defined as only enough team members necessary to carry out the mission. <br /> In most cases this shall involve high-risk arrest/search warrant services. The <br /> SWAT Commander and Team Leader shall take this into account when assessing <br /> the situation. If possible, the Team Leader or SWAT Commander shall make use <br /> of on-duty SWAT team members in the jurisdiction of the incident when a limited <br /> call-out is initiated. The activation of negotiators in these instances will be <br /> situation dependent at the discretion of the SWAT Commander in consultation <br /> with the Team Leader. <br /> 2. When notified of a call-out all team members shall call an established contact <br /> number to advise they are in route and an estimated time of arrival. Members <br /> shall report for each tactical mission(call-out)in a timely and safe manner. <br /> If a member does not respond when called out,the reason shall be submitted in <br /> writing to the Team Leader who shall in turn advise the SWAT Commander. The <br /> SWAT Commander and Team Leader shall review reasons for failing to respond <br /> to call-outs and make a recommendation regarding action(if appropriate)to that <br /> member's department head. Missing three or more call-outs each year without <br /> cause may be reason for removal from the team. <br /> B. Types of SWAT Situations -The SWAT team is specially trained to handle the following <br /> types of situations: <br /> • Barricaded Subject-No Hostage <br /> • Barricaded Subject-W/Hostage <br /> • Suicidal Barricaded Subject <br /> • High Risk Warrant Service <br /> • Active Shooter <br /> • Sniper Situations <br /> • High Risk/Unknown Risk Search Warrant Service <br /> • High Risk Apprehension <br /> • High Risk Surveillance <br /> • Personal Protection <br /> C. Criteria for Call-Out-The SWAT team may be called out when the above situations <br /> involve the following criteria: <br /> 1. Barricaded subject with/without hostage: <br /> • Suspect is,or is believed to be armed. <br /> • Suspect refuses to surrender and/or; <br /> Revised 12/2013 17 <br /> 38 <br />
