The current assessment is scheduled to expire June 30,2014. <br /> The DEA Board of Directors has requested that the City consider extending the BIA assessment for an <br /> additional three years. The rates of assessment would be similar to current assessments and would not <br /> represent an increase in the BIA budget. Assessments would be$8.22 per lineal foot of frontage and$0.17 <br /> per$1,000 of assessed value. <br /> The public hearing will provide the Council with the opportunity to hear from the public and from BIA <br /> members and decide whether to extend the BIA for an additional three years, extend the special assessment <br /> levy,and approve a three year budget for the BIA. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Adopt the resolution setting a public hearing before the City Council on June 4, 2014, at 6:30 p.m.to receive <br /> comments on the City's intent to extend the term of the Business Improvement Area and special assessment <br /> levy for three additional years. <br /> 25 <br />
