re.n. CITY OF EVERETT
Public Works Department
October 16, 2018
Jeffrey Prowse
2305 Harrison Avenue
Everett, WA 98201
Subject: Permitting Process
Mr. Prowse,
This response is based on a question forwarded in an Email sent on October 14, 2018. For
clarity, the question is repeated below with my response in blue.
Question: What should happen now that a contractor has gone in, done work, and presumably
illegally and improperly installed an HVAC unit in my home?
Response: Work done without required permits is unlawful. In order to resolve the situation, a
permit needs to be secured to substantiate and legitimize the installation. Once a permit is
issued, inspections and approvals can then be obtained. The permit may be issued to the owner
of the building who is doing the work, or a licensed contractor.
I hope that my response thoroughly answers your question. If there is need for further
clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Tony-Lee
Building Official
City of Everett
O 3200 Cedar Street © 425.257.8810 O tlee@everettwa.gov
Everett,WA 98201 425.257.8857 fax everettwa.gov
