Any person <br /> not present because of illness, injury, being on disability leave, or permanent assignment <br /> out of fire suppression on a holiday on which he is scheduled to work, shall have the <br /> sum equal to 1/10th deducted from the next paycheck that includes holiday pay. from his <br /> Beginning 2014, holiday pay will be paid twice a year. Fifty (50) percent will be paid in <br /> July (the first paycheck that includes July 4) and fifty (50) percent will be paid the <br /> following January (the first paycheck that includes December 25). An employee who <br /> leaves will be paid on a pro-rated basis (the number of the 10 holidays that have <br /> passed). <br /> 5. Floating holidays may be accrued without limit in number and taken at the employee's <br /> request, provided that the Department has the right to deny a request where taking the <br /> day would result in overtime. So that the employee may have a reasonable opportunity <br /> to plan for the usage of floating holidays, the Department will ensure that if the approval <br /> of the day off does not appear to cause overtime as of fourteen (14) days prior to the <br /> date of the day off, then the Department will assure the employee that he/she may take <br /> the day off. The only circumstances in which floating holidays will be redeemable for <br /> cash (compensable based on the employee's then applicable hourly rate of pay) shall <br /> be: <br /> A. Said floating holidays were accrued prior to January 1, 1988, or <br /> B. The employee dies while in the employment of the City. <br /> 15 15 <br />
