15 • <br /> • <br /> • <br /> ADDENDUM TO LABOR AGREEMENT <br /> BETWEEN;.. • <br /> THE CiTY OF EVERETT, WASHINGTON • <br /> AND <br /> EVERETT FIREFIGHTERS LOCAL NO, 46 <br /> • <br /> The City of Everett and the Everett Firefighters Local #46 agree to this addendum to.the labor <br /> agreement as follows: <br /> 1. The City and the Union mutually agree that those firefighters hired between the dates of • <br /> January 1, 1978, and July 1, 1983, shall maintain EMT certification until: <br /> • <br /> a. The ind€vidual firefighter promotes out of the. position of First Class Firefighter <br /> other than EMTA or Paramedic; or <br /> b. As each firefighter hired after July 1, 1983, is certified as an EMT, the most <br /> senior First Class Firefighter with the certification of EMT, EMTA or Paramedic <br /> • <br /> hired between January 1, 1978•and July 1, 1983;•shall no longer be required to <br /> • maintain their EMT certification. However, these individuals shall be allowed to <br /> • . : maintain--EMT certification.voluntarily, and shall be eligible for time off with pay or <br /> - overtime•under.the circumstances described in paragraph 2 below. <br /> • <br /> 2. For all Firefighter/EMT's hired prior to July:1, 1983, the Cityagrees: • <br /> a. To allow those Firefighter/EMI's who are scheduled to work the day or days of <br /> the recertification test to take sufficient-time off from work with pay to attend and <br /> take the recertification test. <br /> b. If the time required to take the above test necessitates Firefighter/EMT utilizing <br /> time for that purpose beyond their scheduled work shift or on a day different than <br /> their scheduled work shift, the City agrees to pay•that firefighter at the overtime <br /> rate specified in the contract. <br /> c. It is agreed that the City of Everett shall provide all continuing medical education <br /> required for maintaining EMT certification on the job during the regularly <br /> scheduled duty hours of each firefighter. Any continuing medical education <br /> required to be taken off the Job will be paid as in paragraph 2b. <br /> • <br /> 3. All firefighters hired after July 1, 1983, as a condition of employment, will within two <br /> years of employment obtain and maintain EMT certification. For those firefighters the <br /> City agrees to provide all continuing medical education as required for maintaining EMT <br /> certification on the Job during regularly scheduled hours of employment. While It is <br /> agreed that the obligation of acquiring and maintaining EMT certification is the <br /> responsibility of the firefighters hired after July 1, 1983, it is agreed that if these <br /> firefighters are working a scheduled work shift at the time they may be required to take a <br /> class for EMT certification, they shall be allowed sufficient time off with pay to attend <br /> and take the certification or recertification class or test.
