If is agreed that the City shall pay the cost of all EMT certification and recertification classes and tests taken by all firefighters, regardless of date hired, other than as stated in paragraph 7.• 7. It is also agreed that, should.a firefighter hired after January 1, 1978, fail to pass any EMT certification or recertification test or evaluation, including the automatic retest or re- evaluation, they will :enroll in the next available class until they are able to gain their certification or recertification.
