3
II. Forest Road Abandonment
A. Remove all ditch relief culverts. The resulting slopes should be 1:1 or flatter.
The removed fill material should be placed and compacted in a stable location so
it will not enter into any Typed waters or wetlands.
B. Remove all culverts in natural drainages. The resulting slopes should be 1:1 or
flatter. Strive for matching the existing native streambank gradient. The natural
streambed width should be re-established. The removed fill material should be
placed and compacted in a stable location so it will not enter into any Typed
waters or wetlands. Drainage structures will fail eventually. They should not be
relied on to direct water indefinitely.
C. Construct non-driveable waterbars at natural drainage points and at a spacing
which will produce a vertical drop of no more than 20 feet between waterbars and
with a maximum horizontal spacing of 400 feet.
D. Waterbars should be skewed approximately 30 degrees from perpendicular to the
road centerline on roads in excess of 3 percent, grade.
E. Waterbars should intercept the ditch and be keyed into the road cut slope and be-
outsloped to provide positive drainage. Outlets should be on stable locations.
F. Inslope or outslope the road as appropriate.
G. Remove modular bridges and other structures.
H. ' Pull back unstable fill that has potential of failing and entering any Typed waters
or wetlands. Removed material should be placed and compacted in a stable
location.
I. Remove berms except as designed.
J. Block the road entrance with riprap, large woody debris or obliteration so that four
wheel highway vehicles cannot pass the point of closure.
K. Revegetate by grass seeding all exposed soils resulting from the abandonment
work.
Rev 02-21-08
Private to State RUP Page 12 of 13 Road Use Permit No.55-091210
5,4
