\1
Mr. Brian Bodge
Plan Check Number: B1901-029, Second Building Review
May 17, 2019
Geotechnical
1. No additional comment.
Architectural
General:
1. No additional comment.
2. No additional comment.
Fire Protection:
3. This comment has not been completely addressed. The original comment addressed the fire
separate distance to the adjacent building on the north side, and the required construction of
the north wall for fire protection. The following comment shall be address:
a. The Site Plan on Sheet C-1.0 indicates a 9'-7"separation. However, the lot line dimensions
of 4'-9"equate to a 9'-6"separation. The dimensions should be consistent.
b. Due to the unknown conditions of the exterior wall construction for the adjacent building,
the adjacent building shall be provided with a 5-foot fire-separation distance to the lot line.
c. An elevation should be provided for the north wall to specify the proposed construction
stated in the response.
d. Section 1/A-3.0 specifies a 20 MIL coating of intumescent paint. The submitted
documentation does not clearly indicate the specified coating provides 2-hour protection for
the existing construction. Additional documentation substantiating the proposed system
shall be submitted for review.
e. The construction drawings shall require special inspection of the intumescent paint per IBC
Section 1705.14. A section on special inspections shall be added to Sheet T-1.0. See IBC
Sections 1704.3 and 1704.3.1.
f. The response states that the existing door shall be coated with the proposed fire barrier
system. The existing door shall be replaced with a 1.5-hour rated door per IBC Table
7156.5. The door shall have symmetric performance per IBC Section 705.4.
g. See Comment 4a regarding the existing window in the north wall.
4. This comment has not been completely addressed. The original comment addressed openings
in the north and east exterior walls. The following comments shall be address:
a. The response states that the existing window in the north wall will be replaced with a 2-
hour rated window. However, this is an operable window, and shall be provided with a fire
shutter or infilled.
b. The response states that one of the east wall windows will be removed and infilled. A detail
for the proposed infill shall be included. The infill shall be insulated per WSEC-15.
0 3200 Cedar Street 0 425.257.8810 O everetteps@everettwa.gov
Everett,WA 98201 425.257.8857 fax everettwa.gov/permits
Page 2 of
