EVERETT CITY COUNCIL AGENDA IIBM COVER SHEET 2
PROJECT TITLE:
An Ordinance revising the Briefing COUNCIL BILL# `
Small Project Impact Fee Proposed Action Originating Department Public Works
Ordinance, Repealing Consent Contact Person Tim Miller
Ordinance No. 2424-99 and Action Phone Number (425) 257-8977
2505-00, as amended(Chapter First Reading FOR AGENDA OF June 4,2014
18.36 EMC). Currently, these regulations are in need of an update including an increase in fees
which are extraordinarily low when compared to benchmark municipalities.
The significant increase in construction costs since the adoption of these regulations makes an increase in the
impact fees necessary. By adjusting these fees, the City can ensure that a proportionate share of capital
improvements will be paid for by the new development which is driving the need for said improvements.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Adopt the proposed ordinance revising the Small Project Impact Fee Ordinance, Repealing Ordinance No.
2424-99 and 2505-00, as amended (Chapter 18.36 EMC).
77
