2 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. , <br /> An Ordinance Amending the Everett Zoning Code, Ordinance No. 1671- <br /> 89, as amended (EMC Title 19),to authorize upper story wall signs for <br /> limited usage in the B-3 Zone (Central Business.District). <br /> • <br /> • <br /> WHERAS, the City of Everett Zoning Code contains regulations for signage in the B-3, Central <br /> Business District Zone; and <br /> WHERAS, the City of Everett Zoning Code contains regulations for signage in the B-3, Central <br /> Business District Zone; and <br /> WHERAS, it is necessary from time to time to update zoning regulations to provide clarification <br /> or create additional standards related to specific uses; and <br /> WHERAS,the City received a request to amend sign code regulations for the B-3, Central <br /> - Business District Zone to-allow for signs at the top of buildings for limited usage; and <br /> WHERAS,the proposed amendment to the Zoning Code will provide for increased wayfmding <br /> for tourist and economic activity; and <br /> WHERAS,the Planning Commission held a public workshop on June 17 and July 15, 2014 to <br /> discuss and consider potential amendments to the Zoning Code related to upper story wall signs; <br /> and <br /> WHERAS,the Planning Commission held a public hearing on September 2, 2014 and has <br /> recommended that the City Council approve the proposed amendment to the zoning regulations <br /> for upper story wall signage; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds the following: <br /> 1. The proposed amendment is consistent with the applicable provisions of the Everett <br /> Management Comprehensive Plan; and <br /> 2. The proposed amendment bears a substantial relation to the public health, safety and <br /> welfare of the Everett community; and <br /> 3. The proposed amendment promotes the best long-term interests of the Everett <br /> community. <br /> Z <br /> 4 <br />
