ORDINANCE NO. '` 6 , <br />AN ORDINANCE amending Everett City Code, Section <br />1.28.010 establishing work week for certain female employees <br />of the City of Everett and providing for overtime pay .and declaring <br />an emergency to exist. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br />Section 1: That Section 1.28.010 Everett City <br />Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />1.28.010 How computed --When paid. All male city <br />employees covered by civil service, except firemen and police- <br />men, city hall janitors, water control station operations, <br />basin patrolmen when working in water shed, and head works <br />operators, who shall be directed to work by the head of their <br />department or duly authorized superior more than eight hours <br />in any one day, or more than forty hours in any calendar week, <br />or who shall work any day that is designated as a legal holi- <br />day in the State of Washington except Sundays, shall be paid <br />for such overtime work, or work on such holiday, at an hourly <br />rate based upon one and one-half times his monthly salary <br />divided by one hundred sixty-eight, which payment shall be <br />in addition to his regular monthly payment. <br />All female city employees covered by civil service <br />except any woman in the police department holding a position <br />as policewbman., who shall be directed to work by the head <br />of their department or duly authorized supervisor more than <br />seven hours in any one day for more than thirty-five hours <br />in any one week, or on a legal holiday shall be paid for over- <br />time worked at an hourly rate based upon one and one-half <br />times per monthly salary divided by bfc-hundred forty-seven, <br />which pay shall be in addition to her regular monthly pay. <br />The following water department employees, water control <br />station operators, basin patrolmen while working in the water <br />shed, and head works operators, who shall be directed to work <br />by the head of their department or duly authorized supervisor <br />more than eight hours in any one day or more than forty-eight <br />hours in any calendar week, or who shall work on any day that <br />is designated as a legal holiday in the State of Washington, <br />except Sundays, shall be paid for such overtime work, on such <br />holiday, at an hourly rate based upon one and one-half times <br />his monthly salary divided by one hundred sixty-eight, which <br />payment shall be in addition to his regular monthly payment. <br />Any fireman who shall be required to work, as provided <br />by the ordinances of the City of Everett, on a twenty-four hour <br />shift basis and any employee of the fire department who shall <br />be required to work on an eight hour shift basis, who shall be <br />required, at the direction of the head of his department or duly <br />authorized supervisor, to work additional hours in addition to <br />his shift when an emergency is declared to exist by the head of <br />his department or duly authorized supervisor shall be allowed <br />payment for such overtime work at an hourly rate based upon one <br />and one-half times his monthly salary divided by one hundred <br />sixty-eight, which payment shall be in addition to his regular <br />monthly payment. <br />
