ORDINANCE NO. '` 6 , AN ORDINANCE amending Everett City Code, Section 1.28.010 establishing work week for certain female employees of the City of Everett and providing for overtime pay .and declaring an emergency to exist. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: That Section 1.28.010 Everett City Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 1.28.010 How computed --When paid. All male city employees covered by civil service, except firemen and police- men, city hall janitors, water control station operations, basin patrolmen when working in water shed, and head works operators, who shall be directed to work by the head of their department or duly authorized superior more than eight hours in any one day, or more than forty hours in any calendar week, or who shall work any day that is designated as a legal holi- day in the State of Washington except Sundays, shall be paid for such overtime work, or work on such holiday, at an hourly rate based upon one and one-half times his monthly salary divided by one hundred sixty-eight, which payment shall be in addition to his regular monthly payment. All female city employees covered by civil service except any woman in the police department holding a position as policewbman., who shall be directed to work by the head of their department or duly authorized supervisor more than seven hours in any one day for more than thirty-five hours in any one week, or on a legal holiday shall be paid for over- time worked at an hourly rate based upon one and one-half times per monthly salary divided by bfc-hundred forty-seven, which pay shall be in addition to her regular monthly pay. The following water department employees, water control station operators, basin patrolmen while working in the water shed, and head works operators, who shall be directed to work by the head of their department or duly authorized supervisor more than eight hours in any one day or more than forty-eight hours in any calendar week, or who shall work on any day that is designated as a legal holiday in the State of Washington, except Sundays, shall be paid for such overtime work, on such holiday, at an hourly rate based upon one and one-half times his monthly salary divided by one hundred sixty-eight, which payment shall be in addition to his regular monthly payment. Any fireman who shall be required to work, as provided by the ordinances of the City of Everett, on a twenty-four hour shift basis and any employee of the fire department who shall be required to work on an eight hour shift basis, who shall be required, at the direction of the head of his department or duly authorized supervisor, to work additional hours in addition to his shift when an emergency is declared to exist by the head of his department or duly authorized supervisor shall be allowed payment for such overtime work at an hourly rate based upon one and one-half times his monthly salary divided by one hundred sixty-eight, which payment shall be in addition to his regular monthly payment.
