Description of the proposal, including the proposed uses and the size of the project <br /> and site. <br /> • The proposal is part of the overall plan to add reliability and capacity to the <br /> District's electrical system by modifying and expanding the existing Beverly <br /> Park Switching Station located on the north east corner of Beverly <br /> Boulevard and Scenic Drive. <br /> • The current project will expand the existing 115kV switching station to <br /> include a 230kV yard and transformation from 230kV to 115kV. <br /> • The existing 115kV switching station yard will be re-constructed to include <br /> 14 line positions. The proposed 230kV yard and two 230kV to 115kV <br /> transformers will be installed. A prefabricated control facility will be <br /> installed to accommodate relays, controls, communications, batteries and <br /> other auxiliary equipment. <br /> • The 115kV equipment and the 230kV/115 kV transformers will be installed <br /> on the westerly portion of the project and the 230kV equipment will be <br /> installed in a 230kV yard at a lower elevation to the east of the existing <br /> 115kV yard. <br /> • Retaining walls and an embankment will be constructed to provide a lower <br /> level area to the east for the 230kV equipment. <br /> • The existing switching station will expand to the north and east to provide <br /> increasing the fenced area from about 1.3 acres to 4.2 acres. The total <br /> project area is approximately 5.6 acres. <br /> • The project will include security fencing, embankment, storm drainage <br /> system, oil containment system and the construction of retaining walls to <br /> provide two level areas for the installation of electrical equipment. <br /> • The electrical equipment at the site will include: 230kV to 115kV <br /> transformers, switches, overhead bus and conductors, grounding system, <br /> vaults, equipment control enclosure, transmission terminations and all <br /> other associated components. <br /> • Existing access from Scenic Drive will be modified and utilized. <br /> (09 <br />
