SEPA ENVIRONMENTAL CHECKLIST FOR
Beverly Park Switching Station Expansion AGENCY
P.U.D. NO. 1 of Snohomish County USE
B. Environmental Elements
1. Earth
a. General description of the site(circle one):
• Flat, rolling, hilly, steep slopes mountainous, other .
b. What is the steepest slope on the site (approximate percent slope)?
• The site generally slopes from the south west to the north east.
• The overall existing 115kV yard is relatively flat(less than 2% slope).
• The proposed 230kV yard to the east will be graded relatively flat
(approximately 2% slope).
• The steepest natural slope is approximately 42%.
c. What general types of soils are found on the site (for example, clay, sand, gravel,
peat, muck)? If you know the classification of agricultural soils, specify them and
note any prime farmland.
• Zero to eight inches of topsoil outside the existing 115kV yard.
• Fill consisting of loose silty fine sand and gravel to depths up to ten feet in
some locations.
• Weathered glacial till underlies topsoil and fill.
• Unweathered glacial till underlies the weathered glacial till or fill materials.
d. Are there surface indications or history of unstable soils in the immediate vicinity? If
so, describe.
• The site does not have a history of unstable soils.
e. Describe the purpose, type, and approximate quantities of any filling or grading
proposed. Indicate source of fill.
• Excavation, grading and filling will expand the existing 115kV yard at
approximately the same elevation, and the 230kV yard to the east will be
approximately ten feet lower in elevation.
• An approximate estimate of the earthwork quantities are: Stripping of
topsoil 1,800 CY, Cutting 1,300 CY, Filling 15,700 CY of imported fill.
• Stripped topsoil materials will be stockpiled and spread over disturbed
areas and reseeded or removed from the site.
• Existing loose fill materials will be excavated and re-compacted as
structural fill, with debris and rubble encountered removed from the site.
• Fill material will be imported from a source to be determined by the
construction contractor.
- - /3 3
