SEPA ENVIRONMENTAL CHECKLIST FOR
Beverly Park Switching Station Expansion AGENCY
P.U.D. NO. 1 of Snohomish County USE
b. What views in the immediate vicinity would be altered or obstructed?
• From Scenic Drive, the existing 115 kV yard elevation is lower than the
street elevation, reducing the visual impact of the structures. The new
equipment will be installed in a different electrical configuration than the
existing 115kV yard with some of the structures installed closer to
Scenic Drive in the existing yard and other structures installed north of
the existing structures and further from Scenic Drive. The existing
security fence and landscaping provide screening for the 115 kV yard.
The easterly 230kV yard will be about ten feet lower than the 115kV yard
reducing the visual impact of the approximately 75 feet termination
structures in the yard. Both yards will be screened with landscaping
along Scenic Drive.
c. Proposed measures to reduce or control aesthetic impacts, if any:
• The existing landscaping along Scenic Drive and the security fence
obscure the views of the equipment from the neighboring properties and
adjoining street. The landscaping will remain in place along Scenic Drive
and along the northern boundary. The neighborhood park at the
intersection of Scenic Drive and Grant Street will remain and any
disturbance to the park due to construction activities/utility relocations
will be restored.
11. Light and Glare
a. What type of light or glare will the proposal produce? What time of day would it
mainly occur?
• Under normal operating conditions there will be a number of area lights
to provide safe access into the yard during darkness. If emergency
night time work is required, there may be additional work lights in use
for short periods of time. There will be no daytime glare produced.
b. Could light or glare from the finished project be a safety hazard or interfere with
views?
• No
c. What existing off-site sources of light or glare may affect your proposal?
• None
d. Proposed measures to reduce or control light and glare impacts, if any:
• Lighting will be directed inward, toward equipment being worked on
during emergency maintenance and repairs.
s "t 9
