I had initially told him I did not intend to follow-up with an email, but in retrospect feel it proper to document the deficiencies in the design. No action is being required by us to address these in the current design; we are providing this information as a courtesy. The architect has stated that the restrooms have been modified to make them accessible. This is in response to the requirement of IEBC 705.2 per Architectural Comment 16. However,the restrooms as shown will not be fully accessible. The following is a list of the identified deficiencies(note—additional unidentified deficiencies may exist): • The men's toilet does not have the required 60"clearance to the sink(i.e., urinal is inside the required clearance). • The partition in the men's restroom impacts the required 30" clearance for the sink(centered on the sink). • The clearance between the door and sink in the men's restroom should be at least 60". • The side grab bars are not dimensioned. • Vertical grab bars are not clearly specified for these restrooms. • The toilet seats do not appear to be between 16"-18" above the finished floor. • The sinks do not appear to be provided with pipe protection. • Signs are not provided outside the restrooms.
