This allows the undeflying soils to
undergo some consolidation under the new soil loads before final grading is
  accomplished.
 • Connect ali in-ground uGlities beneath the 11oor slabs to the ple-sirpported floors or
grade heams. Based on our observatlons, the molstune cornents of the on-slte sllt sofls ere
above the optimum moisture conlent. Therefore, ese sik soils wfll be unstable under vehfde
traffic and wlll 6e subject to pumpin9 under equlpment and compacted fills. k may be prudent to
cover these solls With a layer of grenular (ctus►ed rock) ( P mem hatt disturbance from
vehicle and foot traffic. Due to the(r poacompactaqllity and organlc conterit, !he on-site sply swls
should not be reused as stnactural fill. Imported grnular Is recommended for all structurel fill on
the project UUfity trench badcfill in structural ereas, such as pavements, should also :ansist of
imported structura fill. ImPP mpaction of• bacldill in uG'tity trenches end around control
structures Is e common reason for pavementistress and failures.
Due to the loose, near-surface soil condiUons, we recommend that asphalt paricing areas be
supported on e miNmum 1-foot layer of imported granular sUuctural fill. Additional pavemerrt
recommendatons are provided in the Pavemencqreas setion of this report.
The erosion cornol measures needed during the site developmerrt will depend heavily on the
weather condftions that are encountered. While site clearing will expose a latge area af bare soil,
the erosion potential on the sice is relatively low due to the gentle slope ot tne ground. We
anHcipate that a 'silt fence will be ded around the downslope sldes of any deared areas.
Rocked constructian access roads shoUld be extended into the site to reduce the amount of soil or
mud carried off the proFerry bY tncks and equlpment. Wherever posslble, these roaQs should
follow the alignment of pl.3nred pavemenis, and trucks should not be alowed to drive off of the
rock-covered areas. Existing catch basins (n, and tmmediately downslope of, the planned work
areas shauld be protected with pre_manufadured sflt socks. Cut slopes and soll stockpiles should
be covered with plastic during wet weather. Following rough grading, lt may be necessary to mulch
or hydroseed bare areas thet will not be immadiately covered with landscaping or an impervtaus '
surface. AddiUonal erosion control measures may be required due to conditions encountered
during construction.
Geotec_Consukant Inc, should be allowed to review the final devolopmerrt olans to veFv that the
recommentions presertted m this o ade uately addressed In the deslgn, Such a plan
review would be a ttional worlc beyond the cuRent scope o work for this stu y, and k may fnclude
reyisions to our recommendations tc accommodate site, development, and geotechical
constraints that hecome more evident dung ttte review process.
We recommend including this repon, in its entirety, (n the project contract documents.
\
GEOTECH CONSUlTM1TS, INC.
