The
3 Contractor shall adjust their schedule at no additional cost to the owner.
4
I
5 The planings shall become the property of the Contractor and shall be removed from the
6 right-of-way. The planings may be utilized as RAP, within the requirements of Section 5-04.2
7 or 9-03.21. The Contractor shall immediately dispose of all other debris resulting from the
I 8 planing operation in a Contractor-provided site off the right-of-way.
9
10 Immediately after grinding, the Contractor shall construct an asphalt transition (temporary
11 paper joints or ramps), on all traveled ways, wheelchair ramps, and exposed manholes,
12 inlets, catch basins, monuments, valve boxes, and other structures on the street, regardless
13 of depth in grinding.Asphalt transition must be removed prior to overlay. Cast iron structures
I14 15 left higher than 2" must be removed and steel plates installed to protect the opening and
provide a suitable driving surface.
16
I
17 18 Sweeping of roadway surface shall immediately follow all grinding. Sweeping of roadway
surface is required prior to tack placement and paving.
19
20 The road shall be overlayed within 3 working days after planing operation for streets
I
21 without loops. The controls shall be capable of sensing the proper
29 grade from an outside reference line, or a mat-referencing device. The automatic controls
I 30 shall also be capable of maintaining the desired transverse slope. The transverse slope
31 controller shall be capable of maintaining the mandrel at the desired slope (expressed as a
32 percentage) within plus or minus 0.1 percent.
I 33
34 Pre-level course is not anticipated on any of the selected streets. If, however, after plaining
35 operations, drivability issues cannot be resolved with 2" overlay, pre-level will be required as
36 directed and paid for by "HMA Class 1/2" PG 64-22", per ton. Contractor is strongly
I37 encouraged to bid the work to cover their cost of pre-level operations.
38
I 39 5-04.3(14)A Paving and Planing Under Traffic
40
41 5-04.3(14)A1 General
I 42 In addition the requirements of Section 1-07.23 and the traffic controls required in Section 1-
43 10, and unless the Contract specifies otherwise or the Engineer approves, the Contractor
44 must comply with the following:
I45
46 1.
