I <br /> 1 8-22.3(1) Preliminary Spotting <br /> 2 <br /> 3 Section 8-22.3(1) is supplemented with the following: <br /> 4 <br /> 5 (..—..) I <br /> 6 Contractor Surveying — Roadway Striping and Channelization <br /> 7 <br /> 8 No survey control data or layout will be furnished by the Contracting Agency. The <br /> 9 Contractor shall be solely responsible for detailed documentation (records) of all <br /> 10 existing pavement markings and channelization in the field prior to grinding <br /> 11 operations. This work includes but is not limited to: field notes, sketches, offset I <br /> 12 markings on curbs or staking if no curb exists. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 The records and offset marking/staking shall be adequate to allow the pavement <br /> 15 markings to be reproduced to a level of accuracy shown below: <br /> 16 <br /> 17 I 18 Lane widths ±0.1 feet (normal to alignment) <br /> 19 Longitudinal location of arrows and letters ±1.0 feet (parallel to alignment) <br /> 20 Longitudinal location of stop lines ±1.0 feet (parallel to alignment) <br /> 21 Transverse location of arrows and letters ±0.1 feet (normal to alignment) I <br /> 22 Longitudinal location of transitions and tapers±1.0 feet (parallel to alignment) <br /> 23 Pavement marking starts and stops ±1.0 feet (parallel to alignment) I <br /> 24 <br /> 25 The Contractor shall provide copies of any calculations, notes, and layout data to <br /> 26 the Engineer, or their assigned representative, prior to grinding. The Contracting <br /> 27 Agency will review the provided data, check the existing layout and provide <br /> 28 revisions as necessary for establishment of lane widths, arrow and letter locations, <br /> 29 tapers, transitions, other modifications, and pavement seams. The Contracting <br /> 30 Agency will require up to seven calendar days from the date the data is received to 1 <br /> 31 conduct this review. No pavement grinding will be allowed before this review is <br /> 32 complete. The Contractor will make adjustments to the curb marking and stakes to <br /> 1 33 match the revisions prior to grinding.. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 Based on these records and/or the offset staking, the Contractor shall perform all <br /> 36 field marking and preliminary spotting for all pavement marking and channelization I <br /> 37 following grinding operations, for temporary only. The Contracting Agency shall <br /> 38 perform all field marking for permanent pavement marking and channelization. All <br /> 39 calculations, surveying, and measuring required for setting and maintaining the <br /> 40 necessary lines for the temporary pavement marking shall be the Contractor's <br /> 41 responsibility. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Preliminary spotting shall be provided at a spacing of 40 foot maximum on tangents <br /> 44 and 25 foot maximum on curves and tapers. All curves, tapers, stop lines, and <br /> 45 crosswalks shall be laid out with a rope. Field layout for curves and tapers shall <br /> 46 use an 800' minimum length rope. The color of the material used for preliminary 1 <br /> 47 spotting shall be white. Longitudinal marking shall be parallel with the proposed <br /> 48 line applied with a paint marker wand or other approved method, a minimum of 6 <br /> 49 inches in length and wide enough so that a minimum of two marks can be clearly <br /> 50 seen at night under ordinary headlight conditions.
