I 1 Personnel performing the field layout and preliminary spotting shall be proficient in I 2 the practice of striping layout, including layout and preliminary spotting of curves 3 and tapers using a rope and paint wand, proper annotation on the pavement of 4 starts, stops, and changes in line type for pavement markings, and an I 5 understanding of WSDOT Standard Plans and City Standard Drawings for 6 pavement markings. 7 I 8 9 Survey personnel performing the calculations, notes, and layout data shall be on site to answer questions regarding the layout notes as the roadway is being spotted 10 or shall perform the work. In the event a revision is required by the Contracting II 1 Agency during field layout, either to correct errors in the notes or to make minor 12 revision noted in the ordinary progress of the work, field layout shall be performed 13 by the Contractor at the time. I 14 15 All field layout and temporary pavement marking shall be completed during the 16 same shift as the striping is obliterated by grinding or paving unless otherwise 17 directed by the Engineer. I 118 19 Permanent pavement marking shall not begin until the layout is approved by the 20 Contracting Agency. Such approval shall not relieve the Contractor of responsibility I 21 for the accuracy of the field markings. 22 23 Payment I 24 25 All costs associated with layout of temporary striping shall be included in the 26 associated bid items for pavement marking and shall be full pay for all labor, I 27 equipment, materials, and supervision utilized to perform the Work specified for 28 layout and preliminary spotting of pavement markings, including any resurveying, 29 checking, correction of errors, replacement of missing or damaged markings, and I 30 coordination efforts. 31 32 8-22.3(2) Preparation of Roadway Surfaces I 33 34 Section 8-22.3(2) is supplemented with the following: 35 36 (,< ,.) I 37 Apply materials to new HMA that is sufficiently cured according to the manufacturer's 38 recommendation. Permanent paint marking material applied to new HMA require a 39 pavement cure period of at least 21 days.
