1 DIVISION2.GR2 2 Division 2 , 3 Earthwork 4 5 2 02 GR2 ' 6 Removal of Structures and Obstructions 7 8 2-02.3.GR2 9 Construction Requirements 10 11 2-02.3(3).GR2 I 12 Removal of Pavement, Sidewalks, Curbs, and Gutters 13 14 Sections 2-02.3(3)A, 2-02.3(3)B, and 2-02.3(3)C are new and is supplemented by the 15 following: 16 17 GLF 2-02.3(3)A.DOCX 18 2-02.3(3)A Removal of Cement Concrete Sidewalks 19 (******) 20 21 For removal purposes, all concrete slabs that average 4 inches or less in thickness 22 shall be considered as sidewalk removal. 23 24 Cement concrete sidewalk shall be removed by sawcutting at the nearest scribe 25 marks beyond the neat line limits subject to the following requirements: 26 27 Removal shall be extended to a through joint or to the edge of the sidewalk if within 28 4 feet of a neat line. 29 30 The width shall be measured by the remaining existing sidewalk. 31 32 The depth of saw cut shall be a minimum of 2 inches. Saw cuts shall leave straight 33 edges and vertical faces. No diagonal cuts in sidewalk will be allowed unless 34 otherwise indicated on the drawings or directed by the Engineer. 35 36 A concrete walk that is to remain in place will be protected from equipment damage. 37 38 The Contractor shall not allow cuttings slurry to leave the site and the cutting 39 process shall be accompanied by vacuum collection. 40 41 Where sidewalk adjacent to a sidewalk opening is in poor condition, removal shall 42 be extended to the nearest through joint or scribe mark as may be directed by the 43 Engineer. 44 45 Pavement breakers shall be approved by the Engineer before use. 46 47 Temporary asphalt concrete sidewalk shall be included in the bid item, "Removing 48 Sidewalk". 49 50 51 2020 PAVEMENT MAINTENANCE OVERLAY PAGE 38 OF 79 SPECIAL PROVISIONS WORK ORDER 3727 FEBRUARY 20,2020
