Deb Williams
From: Nancy Gilmore <kgandng@frontier.com>
Sent: Wednesday,April 22, 2020 11:03 AM
To: Deb Williams
Subject: Forest Park Swim Center
I am writing today to ask that you please pass this message along to the Mayor and the Everett City Council:
I recently saw the Mayor's statement that she will propose to close the Forest Park Swim Center for the next
18 months. I am asking that you please consider the impact that will have for so many children, teens, adults
and families! Our pool has already been closed since mid March. The long term impact for those enrolled in
swim lessons, aerobic classes, swim teams, lap swimmers, etc. is huge. Personally my family uses the pool
twice weekly as a main source of exercise. The pool is a safe place for so many who otherwise would not be
able to join a gym, participate in classes or feel like they belong there. The employees are always so engaged,
friendly and make the pool a welcoming place. While I understand the need for the closure right now, I do not
see any long term benefit to keeping the pool closed. Once it is closed for that long, I fear that it will never
reopen!
Please do not keep the Swim Center closed beyond the necessary timeframe for the Covid19 order.
Thank you,
Nancy Gilmore
Everett, WA resident for 47 years
1
