A response to each of the items is listed below. <br /> 1. The ducts for the HVUs shown on Sheets M2.13 and M2.14 penetrate the exterior concrete <br /> wall panels. The ducts appear to be located at openings in the wall panels. Verify that <br /> demolition of the wall panels is not required. If demolition is required, documentation <br /> substantiating the modified panels shall be submitted for review. See IBC Section 107.2.1. <br /> Response:The supply and return air ducts from the Heat/Vent Units do not penetrate concrete. The <br /> building has several existing roll up doors that approximately 10'tall and 9'wide. At each of the <br /> Heat/Vent Unit locations a roll up door is being removed and a storefront system is replacing the door. <br /> There will be extruded aluminum storefront framed around the ducts with metal infill panels. <br /> -.>A( 4 40 0 S 7 6.4E44 Y Cove. trefAere 12..sdrs,oTf1F4 r .)-4et > <br /> 2. Sheets M2.12 and M2.22 show multiple mechanical units that appear to be suspended from <br /> the structural systems above. The unit weights typically exceed 20 lbs per the equipment <br /> schedules on Sheets M1.01 and M1.02. The following comments shall be addressed: <br /> a. Details for the suspension of the units shall be provide in the construction drawings. <br /> The details shall include lateral bracing. See IBC Sections 107.2.1 and 1603.1 <br /> b. Calculations substantiating the suspension systems shall be submitted for review. The <br /> units shall include lateral bracing designed per the requirements of ASCE 7-10 Section <br /> 13.6. Note that the units do not satisfy Section 13.1.4 Item 6(c) and therefore are not <br /> exempt from this requirement. See IBC Sections 1604.1 and 1613.1. <br /> c. Connections utilizing post-installed concrete anchors shall be provided with special <br /> inspection. Requirements for special inspection shall be specified in the construction <br /> drawings per IBC Table 1705.3 Item 4. See IBC Section 1704.3. <br /> Response: Enclosed are submittal documents with calculations prepared by ISAT for the equipment <br /> suspension.The calculations have a PE stamp. University Mechanical cannot physically add the sheets <br /> to our drawings for liability purposes. <br />
