The North and South Elevations on Sheet.S1.2 appear to show vertically-diagonal framing <br /> between Grids B and C. The size, location, and purpose of the framing is not clear. The <br /> intersection of this framing with other structural framing is not clear. Connections for the <br /> framing do not appear to be provided. Note that Plan 2/S1.1 appears to provide reference <br /> to Detail 4/S1.2 at Grid 2/C, which is presumed intended to reference Detail"4A". However, <br /> the diagonal framing shown appears to be the tension-only lateral bracing as typically <br /> identified in Plan 1/S1.1 at Grid D.3/3. The structural drawings should be revised to clarify <br /> this framing, including additional section cuts and details as needed. Calculations <br /> substantiating the framing and connection design shall be submitted for review. See IBC <br /> Sections 107.2.1, 1603.1, and 1604.1. <br /> 5. Plan 1/S1.1 references the moment connection in Detail 7/S1.2 at Grid C/1 for the column <br /> base. Detail 7/S1.2 does not show this condition. A detail representing this condition shall <br /> be included in the construction drawings. See IBC Section 107.2.1. <br /> 6. Detail 3/S1.2 appears intended as the typical beam-to-beam connection. This detail should <br /> be referenced in the plans on Sheet S1.1. See IBC Section 107.2.1. <br /> 7. The plans do not provide a connection detail for the intersection of the diaphragm framing <br /> and beams at locations without columns. A detail should be provided. See IBC Section <br /> 107.2.1. <br /> 8. Detail 3/S1.2 specifies a bolted shear connection using a 1/4"plate welded to the supporting <br /> beam. The weld size should be specified. See IBC Section 107.2.1. <br /> 9. Detail 3/S1.2 specifies a bolted shear connection using (2) 3/4 A325N bolts. Detail 4/S1.2 <br /> references Detail 3/S1.2 for this connection, however, other details with bolted connections <br /> do not reference Detail 3/S1.2. The details should be coordinated to specify the connection <br /> requirements. See IBC Section 107.2.1. <br /> 10. Detail 8/S1.2 specifies a bolted connection between the guard posts and the structural <br /> framing with (2) 5/8"bolts. The type and grade of the bolts should be specified. See IBC <br /> Section 107.2.1. <br /> Gravity System: <br /> 11.The structural design for the stairway appears to be incomplete. The following should be <br /> addressed: <br /> a. The stair stringers and supporting framing to the main structure appear to be <br /> incomplete, particularly at Grid.B/2, per the plans on Sheet S1.1. See IBC Section <br /> 1603.1. <br /> b. The drawings do not appear to include connection details for the stairway framing, <br /> including but not limited to the cantilever framing and connections of channel stringers <br /> to wide-flange beams. Details shall be provided in the drawings.
