The elevator machinery room is for housing the elevator electrical control only.
The elevator-hoisting machine is located in the shaft. Per our discussion, the one-
hour rating of the room is acceptable. The room name has been change on the
drawing to reflect the foregoing.
2. Door 106, accessing the elevator electrical room, is rated 45 minutes to reflect
compliance with comment 1 above.
3. Wall type ES-3, has been changed to ES-5 to meet clearance requirements for
elevator control equipment. USG performance selector sheets showing 2 hour
rating are attached for your reference.
4. Building section notes have been added to callout 5/8" Type 'X' GWB on the
underside of the stair stringers.
5. The building sections through the east stairwell have been drawn showing the
existing fire barrier materials that were shown on the remodel drawings approved
by your department in 1984. The existing materials at the third floor and fourth
floor ceilings consist of plaster ceiling materials on the existing joists (floor and
roof). The third floor structure is comprised of bar joists and conc/form lock
decking protected with spray-on fireproofing. Notes have been added to the
building sections describing the installation of GWB and intumescent sealant
necessary to meet the one hour requirement per section 707.5.1
6. Drawings have been revised to show and note compliance with minimum one
hour per section 1023.2
7. Building sections have been revised to show and note fire barriers in stair
enclosure continuous through the floor/ceiling assemblies per section 707.5
• 8. Architectural drawings have been revised to correct the inconsistency that was
pointed out.
!DOWNTOWN EVERETT I DISCOVER THE URBAN IN YOU
