The installation of a dense shrub and forested buffer area will over time provide <br /> an increase in water quality improvement capabilities and biological support functions. The dense <br /> vegetation community will also provide noise and visual screening between the proposed residence and <br /> the existing wetland area. <br /> 5.0 Goals,Objectives, and Performance Standards <br /> Goal 1:Enhance functional performance and increase habitat structure and diversity in the wetland <br /> and stream buffer area on-site. <br /> Objective 1: Enhance 3,858 SF of the buffer area by planting native trees and shrubs and <br /> removing invasive vegetation. <br /> Objective 2: Restore 303 SF of the buffer and 391 SF of wetland area by planting native trees <br /> and shrubs and removing invasive vegetation. <br /> Performance Standards for Objectives 1&2: <br /> i) Survival of planted shrubs will be a minimum of 80%after five years.Staged survivability <br /> requirements include: <br /> — 100%survivability after Year 1 <br /> — Year 4 survivability is at a level to meet 80%by the end of Year 5 <br /> — 80%at the end of Year 5 <br /> Evaluation Method:Transect sampling,visual inspection <br /> ii) Tree and shrub canopy cover percentages(including volunteers)during the monitoring <br /> period will be: <br /> — 10%or greater at the end of Year 1 <br /> — 35%or greater at the end of Year 3 <br /> — 60%or greater at the end of Year 5 <br /> Evaluation Method:Quadrat sampling <br /> iii) Invasive and non-native species will have 10%or less aerial coverage within the <br /> mitigation areas.
