The installation of a dense shrub and forested buffer area will over time provide an increase in water quality improvement capabilities and biological support functions. The dense vegetation community will also provide noise and visual screening between the proposed residence and the existing wetland area. 5.0 Goals,Objectives, and Performance Standards Goal 1:Enhance functional performance and increase habitat structure and diversity in the wetland and stream buffer area on-site. Objective 1: Enhance 3,858 SF of the buffer area by planting native trees and shrubs and removing invasive vegetation. Objective 2: Restore 303 SF of the buffer and 391 SF of wetland area by planting native trees and shrubs and removing invasive vegetation. Performance Standards for Objectives 1&2: i) Survival of planted shrubs will be a minimum of 80%after five years.Staged survivability requirements include: — 100%survivability after Year 1 — Year 4 survivability is at a level to meet 80%by the end of Year 5 — 80%at the end of Year 5 Evaluation Method:Transect sampling,visual inspection ii) Tree and shrub canopy cover percentages(including volunteers)during the monitoring period will be: — 10%or greater at the end of Year 1 — 35%or greater at the end of Year 3 — 60%or greater at the end of Year 5 Evaluation Method:Quadrat sampling iii) Invasive and non-native species will have 10%or less aerial coverage within the mitigation areas.
