Project Description and Purpose ._ <br /> The City plans to replace an existing 30 year old 2-inch PVC water pipe that currently hangs off <br /> the east side of the BNSF railroad trestle across Union Slough. (See Figures 1): <br /> The existing pipe is about 550 feet long. The intent is to construct an 8-inch steel or DI carrier <br /> pipe fastened to the existing concrete piers. See Figure 2. The piers are spaced approximately <br /> 20 feet on center. The carrier pipe will carry a new 2-inch HDPE pipe that will need to be <br /> reconnected to existing pipe at both ends. <br /> The City will be preparing the plans and specifications in-house and are looking for consulting <br /> design expertise to assist with carrier pipe and anchor design and specifications. The <br /> Consultant's design must meet or exceed BNSF's engineering requirements: <br /> In , littipn, the City is also seeking assistance in preparing specifications for performing the <br /> construction using barges. As long as no work disturbs the slough bottom the City will not be <br /> required to obtain environmental permits. 4.. <br /> The City's current license with BNSF allows for this work. <br /> II. Task Assignments <br /> Consulting firm will provide design services necessary to design the proposed carrier pipe and <br /> anchors. The specific elements include, but are not limited to: <br /> A. Attend Kickoff Mtg <br /> 1. Within 5 working days of NTP, COE PM will schedule a kickoff meeting to review <br /> Scope of Work and schedule. <br /> B. Site Visit and Research <br /> 1. Attend a City coordinated site visit with City and BNSF representatives. <br /> 2. Review available BNSF record drawing information. <br /> C. Design Report Memo <br /> 1. Prepare short, concise design report explaining anchoring and carrier pipe options <br /> considered and recommendation as to which to move forward with to include in <br /> project plan. <br /> 2.
