BMP 12.40: Raingardens
Implementing Raingardens into a roadway design requires additional right of way for depressed median or
edge planters. The right-of-way available for Eighth Street is not wide enough to support raingardens.
Additionally, Riverside Road (N-S) and Riverside Road (E-W) have an existing traditional drainage system that
does not allow for a raingarden retrofit.
BMP 12.50: Downspout Dispersion Systems
The project is not proposing any buildings;therefore, BMP 12.50 is not applicable.
BMP 12.60: Concentrated Flow Dispersion
The drainage scheme, topography, and limited right-of-way do not allow for the required flat area needed to
properly disperse concentrated flow from the project. Additionally, as all Eighth Street runoff is directed to the
existing Stormwater Quality Pond 2 via the Riverside Road (N-S) pumped storm drain system, there is no
opportunity to disperse the site's runoff.
BMP 12.70: Sheet Flow Dispersion
As the required Eighth Street section and the existing Riverside Road section include curb and gutter with
storm drain catch basins and pipes, it is not possible to sheet flow runoff from the site onto adjacent
vegetated strips.
See Appendix A for development plans showing the proposed improvements.
4. Construction Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan
Below are listed applicable runoff conveyance and treatment BMPs the 2010 City of Everett Stormwater
Management Manual:
BMP C209: Outlet Protection
Prevents scour at conveyance outlets and minimizes the potential for downstream erosion by reducing the
velocity of concentrated stormwater flows.
BMP C220: Storm Drain Inlet Protection
Prevents coarse sediment from entering drainage systems prior to permanent stabilization of the disturbed
area.
BMP C209: Silt Fence
Reduces transport of coarse sediment from a construction site by providing a temporary physical barrier to
sediment and reducing the runoff velocities of overland flow.
Additional information on these BMPs can be found in the Construction Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan
in Appendix B of this report.
5. Source Control Plan
Below are listed applicable source control BMPs per the 2010 City of Everett Stormwater Management
Manual:
Riverside Business Park—Public Access Trails and Roadway Improvements
3
