State of Washington,Department of Ecology <br /> Agreement#G1400343 (1) <br /> Coordinated Prevention Grant Program <br /> City of Everett <br /> with local service providers and Snohomish County Solid Waste Management. The RECIPIENT <br /> will target 75 to 100 businesses, expecting 25 to start or expand WR&R programs. <br /> The RECIPIENT will continue its collaboration with the Everett School District by providing <br /> WR&R support to school recycling and organics programs, and student green teams. The <br /> RECIPIENT will assist with student/teacher green team development and school participation in <br /> Washington Green Schools. <br /> The RECIPIENT will also assist at city- sponsored public events, such as festivals and <br /> neighborhood events to ensure participants have access to recycling. The RECIPIENT will <br /> develop a recycling ClearStream container check-out program. In addition,the RECIPIENT may <br /> purchase up to 5 sidewalk recycling containers to expand its program to new areas in the city and <br /> will place them in strategic locations to increase public access to recycling. Recycling containers <br /> will be monitored and serviced through a public/private sector partnership of business sponsors <br /> and the city itself. The RECIPIENT will explore policy options to reduce use of plastic bags in <br /> the city. <br /> Promotion specifically targeted to increasing the volume of offsite-composting of organics is not <br /> eligible during this grant cycle. However, materials or programs addressing contamination in <br /> food and yard waste carts or home/onsite composting is eligible. <br /> Target Audience: The target audience of this task includes city businesses, schools and <br /> residents. <br /> Goal Statement: The goal of this task is to increase WR&R activities in city businesses and <br /> — — — schools and teincreas s to recycling at publicevents,—festivals and public spaces. <br /> Outcome Statement: Over the two-year grant cycle,new or expanded WR&R programs will be <br /> developed in 25 businesses. Strong "student green team base" will be developed in 10 schools to <br /> support the district's WR&R efforts. Twenty downtown recycling containers will be supported <br /> and monitored to achieve collection and diversion of 9 tons of recyclables over the two-year grant <br /> cycle. City festivals and public events will receive recycling design assistance to result in an <br /> estimated 3 tons of recyclables collected.
