7
2
Resolution No.6537
City Council adopted a naming policy(Resolution No. 6537) on September 5, 2012. The
policy requires that requests for naming a public space,including a park,be submitted to
the Mayor for a determination regarding the proposed name's consistency with the
policy. Below is the department's assessment regarding the proposed name's consistency
with the policy(Section 3:Eligibility and Criteria):
1) Criterion A: Consistent because the naming would occur prior to the project's
construction;
• 2) Criteria B, C,D,E:not applicable;
3) Criterion F: The parcel subject to master planning is approximately 3.55 acres of the
entire 15 acre Bruskrud Road Park parcel. The character of the remaining 11.45 acres is
generally similar to the 3.55 acres. It is certainly reasonable to consider that the name of
the 3.55 acres to be decided under the naming policy also apply to the remaining acreage.
The name"South Everett Forest Preserve"would then apply to the entire 15 acre park
parcel. The department is supportive of this approach;
4) Criterion G:not applicable;
5) Criterion H: consistent(see general rationale above); and
6) Criterion I: not applicable (not a name change).
Cc: Debra Bryant, Chief Administrative Assistant
Allan Giffen,Planning and Community Development Director
•
5
