RESOLUTION NO. <br />Resolution Declaring the Need for the Housing Authority <br />of Snohomish County to operate within <br />the Boundaries of the City of Everett <br />WHEREAS, the City of Everett has activated the Housing Authority of the City of Everett <br />("EHA") to provide services within all areas of the City pursuant to Chapter 35.82 RCW; and <br />WHEREAS, EHA considered and subsequently declined acquiring land owned by Bethany of <br />the Northwest located at 1818 Pacific Avenue and named Bethany at Pacific Crest (the <br />"Project"); and <br />WHEREAS, RCW 35.82.070(13) provides that a housing authority may exercise its powers <br />outside of its area of operation under certain conditions; and <br />WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of Snohomish County ("HASCO") desires to acquire and <br />operate the Project; and <br />WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the current and future tenants of the Project that it remain <br />available to benefit elderly who income qualifies them to live in the Project; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />EVERETT THAT: <br />1. Declaration of Needs. The City declares that there is the need for HASCO to exercise its <br />powers within the boundaries of the City in connection with the acquisition and operation <br />of the Project as affordable housing for elderly, and hereby requests and authorizes <br />HASCO to so exercise its powers in connection with the Project. <br />2. Effective Date .
