1.12 MATERIALS <br /> All materials shall be new and of the best quality of their respective kinds. The storage of <br /> materials shall be confined to the limits indicated by the Construction Manager. Materials and <br /> equipment shall be stored in a neat and orderly manner,taking all necessary precautions to <br /> prevent fire hazards and spontaneous combustion and to conform to the requirements of all <br /> applicable regulatory agencies and insurance policies.No materials or equipment shall be stored <br /> in locations that will hinder or limit the owner's accessibility to their parking, storage lockers, <br /> sidewalks or use of the property except as specifically authorized in writing by the Owner. <br /> Should the Contractor at any time introduce any materials that are not of the quality called for in <br /> these Specifications,he must immediately remove the same from the premises at his own <br /> expense,upon the instruction of the Construction Manager rejecting such materials. Neglect or <br /> refusal to do so empowers the Construction Manager to withhold such payment as may be due the <br /> Contractor until compliance with the orders. No used materials shall be utilized in the <br /> construction without the written permission of the Construction Manager. In all cases where an <br /> article is mentioned by the words "Approved Quality," "or Equal," "if approved," "Other <br /> approved," or similar terms,the Construction Manager will determine which is the best and most <br /> suitable article to use. The terms "as directed" and "selected" shall imply direction or selection in <br /> accordance with the instructions of the Construction Manager. <br /> 1.13 SUBSTITUTIONS <br /> Each bidder may submit,with their bid,a letter under separate cover listing substitutions of their <br /> choice which they are willing to guarantee. However,their bid shall be based on the specified <br /> items. This letter shall identify the product or products,the manufacturer of each,and shall state <br /> the amount to be added to or deducted from the Base Bid in the event the substitution is accepted. <br /> This separate proposal will not be used for the purpose of determining the successful bidder. <br /> Theseproposed substitutions do not require the prior approval of the Construction Manager. <br /> 1.14 WORKMANSHIP <br /> All work shall be performed by skilled mechanics. If, in the opinion of the Construction Manager <br /> any workman employed is incompetent,negligent, or unfit for the work assigned to him,he shall <br /> be discharged from the Work. All workmanship shall be strictly first class in every respect. <br /> Work hours are to be limited to 7:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday-Friday. No work is allowed on <br /> Saturday and Sunday. If work is desired during other times a request must be made to the owner. <br /> 1.15 DEFECTIVE WORK <br /> Work not conforming to the Drawings and Specifications,or to best trade practices shall be <br /> removed and replaced by the Contractor at his own expense as directed by the Construction <br /> Manager. <br /> 1.16 MEASUREMENTS <br /> All working measurements shall be taken from the buildings as provided by the contractor. <br /> 1.17 VARIATIONS <br /> Variations from the Drawings and Specifications may be made by the Construction Manager if <br /> desired, and shall in no way vitiate the Contract, except that a reasonable extension shall be made <br /> AIRPORT RD.BUSINESS PARK REROOF 01000-3 2-21-2020 <br />
