• <br /> • <br /> • <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 3940. <br /> AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. 3211 , also known <br /> as Title 8, Everett City Code, entitled: <br /> "AN ORDINANCE relating to and regulating traffic, travel , <br /> transportation and pedestrians and their incidents upon the <br /> streets, alleys and public ways of Everett, a municipal cor- <br /> poration; prescribing the rules of road for vehicular, <br /> pedestrian and other traffic upon such streets, alleys and <br /> public ways; prescribing the powers and duties of the officers <br /> and other persons in relation thereto; defining offenses, <br /> providing penalties , adopting certain portions of the motor <br /> vehicle laws of the State of Washington and existing amend- <br /> ments thereto; and repealing ordinance numbers : 2318, 2734, <br /> 150, 2348, 2522, and 2612, all relating to traffic." <br /> by amending Sections 15 , 27, 84, 89, 92, and 108 (being also known <br /> as Everett City Code 8. 12.010; 8. 12. 130; 8.24.090; 8.24. 140; <br /> 8 .24. 170; and 8.24.330) and repealing Section 29, (being Everett <br /> City Code 8. 12. 150) by providing for the designation of certain <br /> streets or alleys for one-way traffic and the erection of appro- <br /> priate signs giving notice thereof; by adding air new section to <br /> be known as 8. 12.011 ; by amending the section of the traffic <br /> ordinance dealing with traffic control lights and signals and <br /> free right hand turns to conform with utilization of one-way <br /> streets or alleys; amending certain other sections of the <br /> Traffic Code pertaining to allighting from vehicles, or operating <br /> vehicles and making certain movementswith motor vehicles when oper- <br /> ated upon streets or alleys designated as one-way streets , and <br /> declaring an emergency to exist . <br /> NOW, THEREFORE , THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1 : That Section 15 of Ordinance No. 3211 , <br /> (being Everett City Code 8. 12.010) be and it is hereby amended <br /> to read as follows: <br /> 8. 12.010 One-Way streets and alleys--designation--traffic <br /> rules; authority to install traffic control devices. The City <br /> Council of the City of Everett may by ordinance designate any <br /> city streets or alleys for one-way traffic, and upon such <br /> designation being made by the city council by ordinance, the <br /> Chief of Police shall then erect appropriate signs giving <br /> notice thereof; PROVIDED , that upon a street, alley or road- <br /> way designated and sign posted for one-way traffic, a vehicle <br /> passing around a rotary traffic island shall be driven only <br /> to the right of such island. <br /> The Chief of Police of the City of Everett, when <br /> authorized by written resolution of the City Council , shall <br /> do the following acts with respect to traffic control devices : <br /> ( 1 ) Place and maintain traffic-control signs, signals, <br /> and devices when and as required under the traffic ordinances <br /> of this City to make effective the provisions of said ordinances, <br /> and may place and maintain such additional traffic-control <br /> devices as he may deem necessary to regulate traffic under <br /> the traffic ordinances of the City or under State law, or to <br /> guide or warn traffic. <br /> -1 - <br />
