----- ,. ... ,,,.... ) <br /> 60 <br />, February 26,1975 <br /> 1'5 <br /> Councilman Alderoft asked if the Committee had given any consideration to the <br /> cost of maintaining a facility costing 1.2 million dollars. <br /> Doug Meyer,Park&Recreation Director stated that the total dollar figure <br />!. arriveRcat is based on the eeheee footage of the facility (10,000 sq.ft.) <br /> and also based on the construction cost. <br /> Councilman Aldcroft asked if they did not feel they could build an <br /> adequate facility for considerablY less MeneY. <br /> 4 .Tomaras stated that if they reduce the size of the facility based on <br /> nollar reduction,it would definitely give them a better place than <br /> 4 what they have at present but,it would still be inadequate for their needs. <br /> c,uncilman Aldcroft stated that he and Councilman Ebert and Councilman <br /> Michelson had each attended a meeting of the Citizens Advisory Committee <br /> 1 on three different occasions and had also met with some of the committee <br /> members for two hours prior to this meeting. Councilman Aldcroft stated <br /> that it is his and Councilman Ebert and Councilman Michelson'e recommenda- <br /> tion to reduce tbe funding to the Senior Citizens to 0100,000 in 1975, <br /> 1 $100,000 in 1976 and$200,000 in 1977 and further should it be determined <br /> not feasible for rehabilitation of the 70 units to csallocate the funds to <br /> Isubsidized housing for the elderly. <br /> Mr.Wes Ingram consultant to C.R.E.A.T.E.stated that C.R.E.A.T.E.as a <br /> non-profit corporation is applying to the City of Everett for funds to <br /> purchase 25 acres in South Everett across from properties now set aside <br /> 4 for an industrial park. <br />) C.R.E.A.T.E.is.concerned with developing a park and recreation caMpus <br /> which will sei-ve that portion of the general public or socially handi- <br /> capped,developmentally disabled,and physically or mentally disabled. <br /> Some of Evkrett's citizens with special needs are now being served. Everett <br /> has a need fOr a detoxification center'khich can be met by utilizing the <br /> 4 C.R.E.A.T.E.park and recreational area with an added benefit of ample <br /> space will be provided for the expansion and USe of ang other agencies <br /> 41 providing social services for Everett's socially deprived citizens. <br />!
